    Blown Away

PHILIA x ART NOW are happy to announce ZIETA’s first solo show in Singapore during this year’s Singapore Design Week. The exhibition titled Blown Away brings together some of the most iconic pieces by the globally renowned design studio, as well as some works that are commissioned especially for the space.

This exhibition invites visitors to explore Zieta‘s unique approach to form and material. Using his patented FiDU technology, which involves inflating metal sheets to create robust yet ethereal structures, Zieta transforms mundane materials into mesmerizing, fluid sculptures and functional art pieces. His works challenge traditional notions of space, structure, and functionality, embodying a blend of industrial precision and organic beauty.

Among the works displayed is one of Zieta’s latest sculptures titled, Kraken. A steel representation of the legendary sea creature that Pliny the Elder wrote about – the monster inhabited the Strait of Gibraltar, where it attacked the ships passing there. The sculpture consists of a head that is connected to eight tentacles and is an impressive addition to the space. A 2-meter Crystal Totem will also be displayed alongside the sea creature. The totem consists of a series of mirrored objects combining geometric shapes with smooth, soft transitions of inflatable metal forms. Its polished surfaces curve the light, creating a game of reflections and shadows. Curved mirrored surfaces allow to get lostin reflections. A modern wall installation Mercury reflects 89 air-inflated, bulging, stone-like structures forming a disorderly circle. The constellation of irregular silver elements awakens bionic references. It reminds us of a cell seen through a microscope or liquid metallic elements suspended in space. It creates a cosmic effect, multiplying and generating flickering reflections of its surroundings. The exhibition also features the iconic mirror Tafla and the latest sculptural pieces. Close to a dozen of works bathe the space in the famous gray, green, and blue hues of the design studio.
