Galerie Philia is excited to present its collection in the Paris region for the first time in its history. For this special occasion, an exceptional selection of over hundred works by more than 30 contemporary artists will be shown at the city of lights.
The Cabinet of Virtuosity is an instant look at diverse cabinets presenting an eclectic ensemble of curiosities. Here the unifying idea for the selection is virtuosity. Technical and sculptural virtuosity, as well and above all, esthetic virtuosity.
The designers shown represent various movements of sculptural design: organic, minimalist, brutalist as well as virtualist. We have chosen to bring together seemingly opposing works in order to create a resonance effect that leads the audience to discover this fundamental movement that holds the surging renewal of functional sculpture at its core. The majority of these works are commissioned for this occasion and have never been shown before.
The exhibition will take place in the new building of the renowned studio Atelier Alain Ellouz. It will unfold in the 4 floors of the building, as well as its surrounding gardens of 4000 m2, in a dialogue mixing the fond material alabaster with sandstone, brass, oak and bronze. This inaugural event will mark the first one of a lasting series of collaborations between Atelier Alain Ellouz’s Parisian showroom and Galerie Philia.
