Monument is a collection of shelving units that combine wood and marble. This piece was imagined by Mathieu Girard et Gauthier Pouillart of Atelier Cocorico. The visual strength and stability of the Monument rely on an ingenious construction system that does not require any tool. The result is a brutalist, material-centered piece with a strong sculptural presence. The two imposing “cross” columns that constitute the superstructure are the visual signature of the shelf but also present and enhance beautiful objects or books. The monument system comes in a large variety of dimensions and it is possible to make mono-material shelves or combine marble and wood.
